CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan Meets with CBI Director-General Tony Danker

On March 19th, Gao Yan, Chairperson of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), met in Beijing with Tony Danker, Director-General at Confederation of British Industry (CBI), to exchange views on strengthening institutional cooperation, jointly promoting the development of China-UK economic and trade relations, and deepening communication and coordination under the B20 framework.

Gao Yan said that 2020 was an extraordinary year. With the joint efforts of Chinese and British business communities and people from all walks of life, bilateral cooperation has maintained growth momentum, highlighting the strong resilience and broad prospects of bilateral economic and trade cooperation. The CCPIT has maintained close ties with the CBI for many years. In the future, CCPIT will also stand ready to further deepen institutional cooperation with the CBI, take the B20 cooperation as an opportunity and strengthen information sharing and policy coordination among the business communities of the B20, make their voices heard in upholding multilateralism, improving global economic governance and promoting inclusive and sustainable growth of the global economy, and contribute to the steady and sound growth of China-UK business relations and world economic recovery.

Tony Danker said that the UK is facing a new direction of development after Brexit. The British business community is eager to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with China and hopes that the two sides will deepen the cooperative partnership to boost the development of bilateral economic and trade relations. The CBI is ready to strengthen cooperation with the CCPIT under multilateral frameworks such as the B20 and embark on a new journey of cooperation with the help of the Italian B20, and to strengthen cooperation on the joint response to global climate change.

Zhang Shaogang, Vice Chairman of the CCPIT, and officials from CCPIT Department of International Relations and the Department of Bilateral Cooperation of the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) also attended the meeting.
