2023 New Year Address

Dear colleagues and Friends,
With good tidings brought by the Year of Rabbit, we wave goodbye to yesterday and welcome our new tomorrow. As Spring Festival approaches, on behalf of the CPC Leadership Group of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), I would like to extend my best wishes for the new year to our fellow colleagues both at home and abroad as well as their families, and to our friends from all walks of life for their long-standing care and support.
The year 2022 was a milestone in the history of the CPC and our country. The CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core united and led the whole Party and Chinese people of all ethnic groups in successfully convening the 20th National Congress of the CPC. An ambitious blueprint has been drawn for building a modern socialist country in all respects and advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization, sounding a clarion call of the times for forging ahead on a new journey.
Over the past year, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, CCPIT at all levels across the country have studied and implemented the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in a deep-going way and strengthened overall Party leadership on our work. We have adhered to reform and innovation, taken the lead in shouldering responsibility, and coordinated epidemic prevention and control and the development of the cause of CCPIT. We solemnly held the Conference of the 70th Anniversary of CCPIT and Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit, and ensured the work of CCPIT Working Team on Business Facilitation for FIEs achieve solid and long-term progress. We achieved fruitful outcomes in promoting trade and investment and providing commercial and legal services, opened new chapters in participating in global economic governance, and progressed with much success in developing an application-oriented think tank. By doing all these, we have made great contribution to serving high-standard opening up and stabilizing the macro economy.
Over the past year, we turned General Secretary Xi Jinping’s trust and guidance into a strong impetus and effective results for our work, achieving the overall leap and high-quality development of CCPIT. We make our voices heard at regular press conferences, contributed our wisdom in the release of a series of economic and trade research results, and made our mark in the international rules-making arena. In representing the business community, we promoted policy implementation, won the trust of market entities by helping ease their difficulties, and demonstrated the advantages of having both public and private identities by providing platforms and opportunities. With an ever-strengthening service network for businesses, an increasingly extensive international circle of friends and greater social influence, we are taking on a new style of work, a new configuration and a new look, and making a new stride forward in developing a world-class trade and investment promotion institution with Chinese characteristics.
The year 2023 marks the beginning of full implementation of the guiding principles laid down at the 20th CPC National Congress. We will follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, comprehensively act on the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, and thoroughly implement the essence of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s address at the Conference of the 70th Anniversary of CCPIT and Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit. We will acquire a deep understanding of the decisive significance of establishing Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defining the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, strengthen our consciousness of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core and keep in alignment with the central Party leadership, enhance confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and uphold General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole as well as the authority of the Party Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership. We will unswervingly exercise full and rigorous Party self-governance. We will adopt systems thinking and a holistic mindset, adhere to the “1+5+10” work pattern, ( i.e. stay committed to the theme of innovation and quality improvement, spur innovation in ideas and mentality, systems and mechanisms, technological means, service model, vehicles and platforms, and implement ten major action plans), in order to make greater efforts in achieving steadily increasing and better-structured foreign trade, as well as in stabilizing FDI stock and attracting more inflow. In so doing, we will contribute wisdom and strength to advancing Chinese modernization, and write an even more magnificent chapter for the work of CCPIT in the course of building a modern socialist country in all respects and advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts.
Let’s forge ahead with solidarity on a new journey and score great achievements. Let’s remain true to the original aspiration, have full confidence, build on the good momentum and strive for excellence as we ring in the Year of the Rabbit.
