On May 22, the Release of The Global Supply Chain Promotion Report and the 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) Barbados Promotion Event was hosted by CCPIT in Bridgetown as a sub-forum of the first Global Supply Chain Forum 2024 co-hosted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Government of Barbados. Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Shamika Sirimanne, Director of UNCTAD’s Division on Technology and Logistics, and Yan Xiusheng, Ambassador of China to Barbados, attended and addressed the event. More than 100 representatives of Chinese and foreign enterprises and business associations participated in the event.

Ren Hongbin stated that maintaining the resilience and stability of the global industrial and supply chains is crucial for world economic development. Consolidating and strengthening global supply chain cooperation is in the interests and the urgent expectation of all parties. China’s innovative holding of the CISCE responds to the call of the times and provides an international platform to foster communication, deepen cooperation, and pursue common development. This year, we will continue to support the participation of institutions and enterprises from the African Union, the Arab League, the Caribbean, the South Pacific, and other regions.

Sirimanne spoke highly of China’s holding of the CISCE and the release of The Global Supply Chain Promotion Report. Noting that the global supply chain remains a major challenge, she acknowledged China’s important contributions to helping developing countries integrate into the international market. She expressed hope that the CCPIT would continue to actively promote international supply chain cooperation and strengthen ties among various industries on a multilateral level.

Yan Xiusheng said that the CISCE has furnished a high-end platform for trade and investment cooperation between Chinese and Pakistani enterprises. He emphasized that China will further advance diverse projects under China-Pakistan cooperation, aiming to establish a new benchmark for the friendship between the two countries.

Yu Weijiao, Chairman of YTO Express, introduced as an exhibitor representative the enterprise’s main achievements in the first CISCE and its business development.

The Global Supply Chain Promotion Report, authored and published by the Academy of CCPIT, comprehensively summarizes China’s successful practices in keeping the global supply chain resilient and stable. It also analyzes the four major opportunities brought by China’s new development for the openness and cooperation of the global supply chain. Additionally, for the first time, it quantitatively analyzes from a global perspective the global supply chain development trends towards regionalization, diversification, digitization, and greening, and constructs the first global supply chain analysis model.

During the first CISCE, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) established a collaborative booth with several national brands from the Caribbean region. This booth showcased the outcomes of cooperation and highlighted development opportunities between China and Caribbean countries in the supply chain sector, focusing on themes including trade and investment, culture and tourism, and science and technology innovation.
