On November 1, the Slovakia-China Business Forum was held in Beijing. Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico and Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Zhang Shaogang attended and addressed the event. Also present at the forum were Denisa Sakova, Slovakia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Tomáš Taraba, Slovakia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment, Peter Lizák, Slovakia’s Ambassador to China, and Robert Simoncic, Chief Executive Officer of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO).
Prime Minister Robert Fico noted that China’s rapid economic growth has offered Slovak enterprises a huge market and enormous opportunities. This time, the Slovak side led its largest-ever delegation of Slovakian entrepreneurs to deepen cooperation with Chinese partners in electronics, automotive, and other fields and explore new development opportunities. Fico emphasized that Slovakia, as a gateway to Europe, has recently seen rapid economic growth and a favorable business environment. He encouraged Chinese enterprises to actively coordinate and communicate with Slovak enterprises to tap into the potential for economic and trade cooperation.
Zhang Shaogang expressed that China-Slovakia economic and trade cooperation has been continuously upgraded in recent years and enjoys increasingly promising prospects. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. At this new historical juncture, the CCPIT is willing to join hands with the Slovak side to further deepen cooperation in trade, investment, and industrial and supply chains, make the pie of mutually beneficial cooperation bigger and better, and foster new growth areas for cooperation. Zhang welcomed Slovak enterprises to leverage platforms such as the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) and the China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) Business Council to share opportunities and promote development.
The forum, co-hosted by the CCPIT and the SARIO, was attended by approximately 250 government officials, business people, and media representatives from both countries. Presentations were made by the SARIO, the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), and representatives from Chinese and Slovak enterprises. Business representatives from the automotive, logistics, agriculture, information technology, and energy sectors engaged in matchmaking negotiations, with cooperation documents signed between some Chinese and Slovak enterprises.
