On December 30, an Enlarged Meeting of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Leadership Group of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) was convened in Beijing. Guided by the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the meeting took stock of the work in 2024, analyzed the current situation, and arranged the tasks for 2025 while thoroughly putting into practice the guiding principles from the 20th CPC National Congress and the second and third plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee and earnestly implementing the plans of the Central Economic Work Conference. Ren Hongbin, Secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and Chairman of the CCPIT, chaired the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting pointed out that throughout the year 2024, the CCPIT has earnestly delivered on the decisions and requirements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, enhanced its political responsibility, pursued progress while ensuring stability, and ensured both consolidation and improvement. With a focus on its five important roles and four main business lines, the CCPIT has coordinated the development of trade promotion work on three fronts and spared no effort to build a “1+9+5” work pattern. As a result, the CCPIT has made new strides in the high-quality development of its trade promotion cause.
The meeting noted that the Central Economic Work Conference made a comprehensive review of the work in 2024, an in-depth analysis of current circumstances, and a clear plan for 2025, providing us with the fundamental philosophy and guide to action for moving China’s high-quality economic development forward. It stressed the need to align the thinking and actions with the guidelines of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and the decisions and arrangements made by the CPC Central Committee. All CCPIT personnel must make it their priority to get things done and strive for the high-quality development of trade promotion work, thereby contributing to sustained economic recovery and Chinese modernization.
It was emphasized that efforts should be made to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; acquire a deep understanding of the decisive significance of the Two Affirmations (i.e. the affirmation of Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and the affirmation of the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era); become more conscious of the need to maintain political commitment, think in terms of the general picture, follow the core leadership of the CPC Central Committee, and act in accordance with its requirements; stay confident in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics; and uphold General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and uphold the Party Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership. The CCPIT Party Leadership Group has designated 2025 the “Year of Coordinated Development.” They will continue to seek progress while maintaining stability, promote stability through progress, uphold fundamental principles and break new ground, establish the new before abolishing the old, pay attention to integrated reforms, and strengthen coordination. They will ensure both development and security, introduce foreign capital while establishing domestic connections, coordinate the development of trade and industry, and strike a balance between conducting business and Party building. They will devote their energy to work in ten areas. For example, they will ensure strict Party self-governance and secure the success of major events such as participation in the Expo 2025 Osaka and the third China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE). Foreign trade and foreign investment will be further stabilized through solid steps and multiple measures. They will continue to strengthen the foreign-related rule of law and move faster to build high-level application-oriented think tanks. A “1+5+10” work pattern will be put in place to make fresh and even greater contributions to building China into a stronger country and rejuvenating the Chinese nation on all fronts with concrete actions and tangible outcomes of high-quality development.
Members of the CCPIT CPC Leadership Group attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Responsible people from all departments and directly affiliated organizations of the CCPIT participated in the meeting and made presentations around the theme. Persons in charge of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Group dispatched by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission to the Ministry of Commerce were also present at the meeting upon invitation.
