On February 10, 2025, a delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs, organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), arrived in Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital, for a four-day economic and trade exchange. The goal was to strengthen communication and interaction between the business communities of the two countries and deepen their pragmatic cooperation.
In recent years, under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, China-Kazakhstan relations have experienced leapfrog development. All-around cooperation between the two countries has been accelerated, opening up broad prospects for collaboration among their enterprises. The delegation is composed of representatives from over thirty renowned domestic enterprises, including the CITIC Group, the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec), the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), and the Sinochem Holdings. CCPIT Chairman Ren Hongbin will lead the delegation to conduct exchanges with prominent figures from political and business communities in Kazakhstan, and attend an economic and trade fair between Chinese and Kazakh enterprises, a working meeting of the China-Kazakhstan Entrepreneurs Committee, and other events. This aims to fully tap into the potential of bilateral cooperation in key areas such as oil and gas trading, clean energy, and e-commerce. Additionally, enterprises on both sides are encouraged to sign cooperation documents. The third China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) will be promoted to make the pie of mutually beneficial cooperation bigger, advance the Belt and Road cooperation, boost international cooperation in industrial and supply chains, and deliver more benefits to the two peoples.
The year 2025 truly carries great significance to China-Kazakhstan relations. The second China-Central Asia Summit is set to take place in Kazakhstan in this June, and the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be held in China. To ensure the success of major events, including the two, Ren will lead the delegation to have in-depth exchanges with relevant departments in Kazakhstan on matters related to the upcoming China-Central Asia Business Council meeting in Kazakhstan, and Meeting of the SCO Business Council Board and the SCO Business Forum to be held in China.
