Gao hoped more professionals from business community can participate in the Belt and Road construction, giving new impetus to the economic development.

“I hope enterprises from home and abroad can contribute to the Belt and Road construction and cooperation to ensure more fruitful achievements. ACFIC will continue to enhance exchanges with industrial and commercial associations of all countries to provide better services in the Belt and Road construction. We will also cooperate with relevant departments to promote the match-making of more projects,” added Gao.

Gao’s remarks were echoed by Xiao Yaqing, Chairman of the Party Committee of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). The state-owned enterprises will undertake high quality pilot projects with high standard by meeting the demands for local development so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win development.

Economic cooperation is the most solid and fruitful area for the prosperity of the Belt and Road Initiative, and will continue to enrich the development of global industrial, service, supply and value chains, said Gao Yan, Chairperson of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

"Companies from home and abroad will sign a number of cooperation agreements today, covering a wide range of areas and regions," she said at the opening ceremony.

"Under the backdrop of rising protectionism and unilateralism, the Belt and Road Initiative provides a Chinese solution to the global governance system," Gao  said, adding that the trade promotion institution from each country needs to work together to build more platforms to facilitate and diversify trade activities.
