On March 28th, the China-Brazil Economic and Trade Forum was held in São Paulo, Brazil. Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Luiz Augusto de Castro Neves, President of the Brazil-China Business Council, and Yu Peng, Consul General of China in São Paulo, attended the forum and delivered speeches.
Ren Hongbin stated that China and Brazil are good friends spanning mountains and oceans. To implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries and promote high-level economic and trade cooperation, the CCPIT will continue to deepen cooperation with various sectors in Brazil and actively expand mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. During this visit to Brazil together with a delegation of entrepreneurs, he had in-depth exchanges with Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, yielding positive results. China is willing to join hands with Brazil to foster new drivers of cooperation, expand new spaces in the industrial and supply chains, open up new prospects for innovative multilateral cooperation, support Brazil's presidency of the BRICS this year, and help China and Brazil embark on a new “Golden 50 Years”, jointly composing a new chapter of unity and self-improvement for the “Global South”.
Brazilian participants stated that amidst the profound changes in the global landscape, with the rise of protectionism and the acceleration of climate and technological transformations, win-win cooperation is particularly important. Amid multiple challenges, Brazilian-Chinese economic and trade relations have demonstrated strong resilience and complementary potential, especially in the areas of green transformation, high value-added industries, and supply chain collaboration. Enterprises from both sides should seize opportunities, deepen dialogue, expand cooperation, and make good use of the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), an important platform for promoting global supply chain cooperation, to jointly promote sustainable development. This event was co-hosted by the CCPIT and the Brazil-China Business Council, with over 100 representatives from trade and investment promotion agencies, business associations, and enterprises from both countries in attendance. Relevant institutions and enterprises from China and Brazil signed multiple cooperation agreements on-site, including agricultural and grain procurement, mining cooperation, and participation in the CISCE, with a total value exceeding USD 2 billion.
During the visit, Ren also led the delegation to meet with key figures in Brazil’s political and business circles and conduct research on well-known local enterprises. The delegation consisted of over 40 Chinese-funded enterprises from various sectors, including agriculture, food processing, finance, infrastructure, energy, communications, and healthcare.
