Bi Yaxiong Meets with Minister of Planning and Finance of Myanmar

Kunming - Bi Yaxiong, Vice President of China Southern Power Grid held recent talks with U Soe Win, Minister of Planning and Finance of Myanmar.

Minister Soe Win and his delegation where here in Kunming, Yunnan Province  to attend the Second China-Myanmar Economic Corridor Forum.

Both sides held in-depth discussions on the progress of the China-Myanmar 500 kV grid-connected project and power cooperation.

Mr. Bi briefed Minister’s Soe Win’s delegation on CSG’s overall business and the progress of several key grid-connected projects.

Both sides exchanged time-sensitive views on critical issues such as the power price mechanism. Mr. Bi pointed out that in the China-Myanmar grid-connected project, the medium- and the long-term planning of Myanmar’s power development has been taken into account, “which is of great significance in accelerating the China-Myanmar economic corridor construction and the overall economic and social development of China and Myanmar.”

It is hoped that a new round of negotiations will be launched as soon as possible to ramp up the implementation of the project.

Minister Soe Win said that the Myanmar government “attaches great importance to China-Myanmar cooperation in infrastructure construction”, and that during this visit, was “amazed by China’s rapid growth.”

He also noted that “economic development is inseparable from the construction of power infrastructure” and hoped that both sides can contribute their due bit to deepening China-Myanmar power cooperation and injecting more vitality into Myanmar’s economic development.
