China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) Council Meeting 2019 was held in Beijing on December 27. CCPIT and CCOIC Chairperson Gao Yan attended and addressed the meeting. CCOIC Secretary General Yu Jianlong reported on the work of the CCOIC in 2019. Over 600 representatives from council member companies were in attendance.
Gao Yan said, “Facing the complex situation of increasing risks and challenges at home and abroad, CCOIC has made new progress and achievements in its work. In 2020, we must follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implement fully the guidelines of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the second through fourth plenary sessions of the CPC’s 19th Central Committee and the Central Economic Work Conference, and strengthen Party leadership in CCOIC’s work.”
“We should pursue progress while ensure stability, uphold the new development philosophy, focus on the supply-side structural reform, unwaveringly advance reforms and innovation, earnestly implement CCOIC’s three-year development plan, advancing the modernization of CCOIC's system and capacity of governance, promote the high-quality development of CCOIC’s work and improve the services for enterprises. In this way, we can make greater contributions to the work of stabilizing foreign trade and investment and building new systems for an open economy at a higher level,” she added.
The meeting deliberated and approved the CCOIC Work Report 2019 and the list of new candidates of the CCOIC council. CCPIT Vice Chairman Chen Jian’an was elected as Vice Chairman of CCOIC, 84 companies including China Southern Airlines Co., Ltd., China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd., China Galaxy Financial Holdings Company Limited, and Shagang Group were elected as council members.
Wang Changshun, Chairman of the China Southern Airlines Co., Ltd., Cui Genliang, Chairman of the Hengtong Group, Li Mei, Chairperson of the China Galaxy Financial Holdings Co., Ltd., and Ning Gaoning, Chairman of the Sinochem Group Co., Ltd. addressed the meeting as representatives of council deputy members.
Gao Peiyong, Vice President and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Zhang Yuejiao, former Chairman and former Grand Justice of the WTO Appellate Body and professor of the Tsinghua University’s Law School, delivered keynote speeches during the meeting.
